I have worked in the investment industry for more than 30 years, starting my career as a financial journalist and later becoming an equity research analyst. After graduating from Yale University, my first job was as a copy editor and then a reporter at Institutional Investor. Later, as an independent journalist, my articles appeared in Euromoney, Institutional Investor and The New York Times. I have received two National Magazine Award nominations—for writing and reporting articles that earned invitations to appear on The Today Show and CBS This Morning.
In 1986, I started my own investment marketing practice, where I experienced firsthand all the different ways a strong marketing program can help companies build and retain assets. As a consultant, I learned the merits of integrating different services—market research, writing and editing, graphic design and presentation coaching—as part of one cohesive offering, an insight that led to the creation of Alpha Partners.
My life outside of work has always involved competitive sports—polo, squash and now, three-day eventing with my horses, Vinny and Luke (pictured above with me onboard). I believe that competition compels excellence. The habits I’ve learned in sports—the discipline of routine practice, thinking ahead and near-obsessive preparation—continue to serve me well in working with clients.
I love what I do at Alpha Partners because every assignment—from a full-scale rebranding initiative to coaching a team for a finals—involves helping my clients compete successfully.
